Thanks for replies. Mimi is cute but this happens to be what my step mom has chosen to go by with the grandkids.. so that would be too confusing… I dunno, Mira and Miri are pretty but sounding a little too exotic for me now that I’ve tried it out, I dont see it catching on with the family either. Right now I’m thinking Mandy will be the best fit, it’s cute and common, sounds cute with Lori too. I’m thinking if I can find Lori on a souvenir then I should be able to find Mandy, if not Miranda. & a special nn for mommy & daddy would be “mear-bear” lol. Also, just for kicks I threw out Juliana to the hubs but it was shot down, womp. Unless I find something else that grabs me Miranda Leslie it is :)

I really just liked Julienne as a first name. And I kinda wanted to keep the 3 – 2 syllable pattern like with Lorelei Kirsten, our last name is 3 syllables so I feel like it gets kinda long and the 2 syllable mn breaks it up, this was part of the reason I wasn’t for Aurora in the middle (or the first b/c just had a niece born named Aubrey and have a 2nd cousin named Rory, & of course there is Lorelei which already has the rory nn…). I’ve seen a lot of the suggested nicknames on other sites but didn’t like a lot of them :/ just Miri and Mira, probably more-so Mira, but they just don’t feel very natural to me. We may have to break our own rule unless we can find something that’s a better fit.

I’ve never really done message boards before but I didn’t really think turning to my family/friends would’ve been the best idea, since they would likely avoid hurting my feelings..or also not be familiar with the term, since we don’t use it apparently. So talking with you ladies has been really valuable, thank you!

Honestly for a moment I was trying to look past all of this but the truth is it’s spoiled now. So I’ve given myself some time to detach from the name and seriously consider other options. I think it’s best that all this be hashed out & me deal with disappointment now rather having regret about it later. This will probably be a funny story we can tell her later, lol.

Your suggestions have been really thoughtful and have given me some new ideas but I think Miranda has been growing on me, also my husband likes it. The name also has a nice meaning and interesting history behind it, which is something I really loved about Lorelei (clearly Julienne strikes out in that dept lol). Right now I’m thinking Miranda Leslie. Lorelei was actually going to be Leslie before I suddenly decided I wanted something stronger for the first name lol. I feel like Lorelei Kirsten and Miranda Leslie balance each other out nicely. The only drawback is the lack of a great nickname. I think we’ll try that out for a while and see how we feel about it. Thanks again.

Ugh, I seriously didn’t realize the association was that common since I personally had never heard of it. But I also do not cook. I don’t think I’m really bothered by the fact that it sounds like a boys name when said, I think the spelling is very feminine which I love. I’ve thought a lot about the variations, especially Julianne since it is so very close but the “anne” is killing it for me, it’s so common in names I don’t like it. Honestly it’s hard for me to imagine someone actually asking her “like the potatoes?” no one has asked me that so far when I’ve told them what we were thinking about. If you did know someone named Julienne, would you really think it was that weird?
