TTC "tricks" and tips

Just curious: What tips and tricks for TTC have you tried/do you do?
For us when we conceived our twins, I did everything one friend (who had dealt with IF) suggested: charting, Pre-Seed, elevating my hips for 20 mins after, having DH wear boxers instead of briefs, and eating pineapple core during the 2ww. I will probably do all of that the next time as well.

Don’t use any lubrication, including saliva.

I’ve done all that except the pineapple and it hasn’t worked for TTC #2. The only thing different about the month we conceived Ethan was that after 9 month TTC we weren’t trying to get the timing right that month. So I guess my “trick” was to stop stressing out and relax. Too bad I can’t relax and monitor everything at the same time.

Ah yeah, Inga, if only relaxing did the trick every time! Too bad it’s not that simple for everyone! Really really hoping you get that BFP soon!

@Inga Any chance your “right timing” isn’t right and aiming for it is messing you up? Some women don’t ovulate when they think they will. It took just over a year for me to conceive my daughter but the first month that I aimed to have intercourse 3-4 days later than I thought ov should happen, boom. Also, from what I understand, checking your vaginal secretions is more likely to result in pregnancy than charting based on last period or basal temperature. Even those ovulation kits can be finicky. The month I conceived her, I never actually got a positive result in the week I thought I was ovulating. With kid #2 I conceived quickly using the VS method. I know no one thing works for everyone, and you’ve probably explored all your options at this point, but in case this would be helpful, I thought I’d post.

Ah. I just saw you have the doctors involved so I guess you probably know when you are ov :-) Just ignore my post.

It’s alright, Embra. Timing has actually been a big issue due to my PCOS (which causes me to have very irregular cycles and misleading cervical fluid). It’s like trying to hit a moving target blind-folded. Thankfully, Clomid has been giving me normal cycles and I’ve found an ovulation predictor kit that works for me.

That’s interesting about PCOS (which I also have) causing misleading cervical fluid. For me I find sometimes I think I’m gearing up to O but then it turns out to be an anov cycle. I hate that. I’m so glad Clomid and your OPKs are working for you though! That’s great!

Actually I also think that a single method does not work for every one.Getting pregnant entirely depends on the hormones of a individual. So for each individual will have their own timing for getting pregnant.

That’s true, ChildtoCherish; it depends on a lot of things working together, though there are some things that tend to help so they’re often worth a try.

I have PCOS as well, and I cannot rely on cervical fluid as a sign of ovulation. Clomid is known to dry up and mess with CM. Using a lubricant is highly recommended by my dr. but only PreSeed or ConceivePlus both sperm-friendly lubricants (specially formulated).

I use cervical position, opk’s, and bbt temps as signals and signs of ovulation.

I haven’t heard of ConceivePlus; I bet that’s come out since the last time we TTC.
kuriuskitten, sorry you are dealing with PCOS, too!

Reading this has brought back so many memories!! lol It’s been a long time since we TTC and I totally forgot about things like the 2 week wait, preseed and elevating hips. :)
