Hello is anyone else out there overweight and TTC ?? I am 260 and my so is about 380 . We find “trying” is sometimes more strenuous then it should be and sometimes he just doesn’t wanna try at all. Most men jump at the thought of more sex, but not him! What can I do different so we try more than one time a cycle ???? #frustrated

Forgive me if this is too obvious, but are you guys also working together toward a healthier lifestyle (good eating, exercise) that might help with his energy level and libido? That would be a good place to start but if his drive is really low, there also might be another medical reason for that. I know it’s a touchy subject but if he hasn’t already talked to his doctor about it, it might be a good idea. Also, is he really on board with TTC? I wonder if having mixed feelings about it might lead to being a little reluctant about trying? Charting your cycles to know when you ovulate to maximize your chances from that one time would also help, if you’re not already doing that.

Sorry about the stress; I hope things get better for you and you get that BFP soon!

Yes we have been eating better and he was doing better for awhile but it really does seem like he just has no drive. I may need to convince him to go see a doctor . I’ve heard that hormones can change with age . I’m 31 and he is almost 35 .

I am about your size as well and well I am not currently TTC but I do know that if I am not happy with myself than it def. spills over into our sex life. This is the highest I have been and I just talked to H about it and how I am not happy. He is all for working out and trying to eat right to help me but he would not do it for himself (he could lose some weight but is not significantly overweight). Maybe you could ask him to do it together – I know right now I have no drive and that has a lot to do with how I feel about myself
    good luck!

Just wanted to check in and see how you’re doing. Have things gotten any better? Is he going to see a dr?

    Hi SaraBeth,

I am your weight and my husband is about 360lb. So we’re very close in size issues. Hubby and I have been married almost 5 years and ttc for atleast 3 years.
Despite changes in diet (changed to diet for insulin resistance) and the fact that our jobs are very active, we have not had any luck conceiving or losing weight.
With that said, me and my husband have both been checked out reproductively. Hubby’s had semen anylsis and check-up (he’s also diabetic) and I’m seeing a Reproductive Endocrynologist (fertility doc). We’re doing everything we can, there’s nothing really left in our hands.

Maybe I could suggest you try some different sex positions. It’s not sexy, but extra weight tends to get in the way sometimes (if you know what I mean). We find that doggy-style works best for us. I would maybe get a book or look online for some inspiration.

I also chart for fertility so I know reasonably when to try. We concentrate our efforts on only 3-4 days a month, anything else is just for fun when we want to.
