Trying to decide a girl's name

Hey. My husband and I are pretty settled on a name for our second little one if it’s a boy. For a girl, the name would still be up for debate. Good news – we’ve got a couple that we both like, so it’s a win-win situation. Bad news – naturally, he slightly prefers one and I slightly prefer the other. For context we already have daughter, Claire Julianne. I think both the names we’re looking at would work well with hers without being too matchy-matchy.

So, Fiona Grace or Emelia Grace (nickname Emmy)?

I like Samantha Mae as a third option, but hubby’s not so crazy about Mae. :)

    Anyways, thoughts?

Hmmm … this isn’t helpful, but I like them about equally. ;)
I have a hard time fully embracing Fiona b/c of the ogre association but I know that is fading as time goes on and Fiona is becoming more popular in its own right. I like Emelia well enough but prefer the Emilia spelling.
I think if I had to choose, I’d go with Emelia Grace.

I am not a huge fan of Fiona, but it is a nice name, and Claire and Fiona ARE pretty great together. I prefer Emelia immensely, but I don’t like the spelling (sorry!). It’s not the Shakespearean Emilia (which has spunk and grace and class, imo) or the classic Amelia, and it doesn’t appeal anywhere near as much as either for me. If it was Emilia Grace, that would easily get my vote, but I like Fiona more than Emelia, so as they are, Fiona? But if Emelia was Emilia, that would get my vote a million times over–I adore Emilia.

Of the first names, my pick would be Emilia (spelt like this, I think the second E looks funny for some reason…). It is a strong, romantic choice which manages to be fun and cool yet elegant at the same time. Grace is a little expected in the middle, but it works well.

Fiona Grace is, I believe, the more unexpected of the two choices. It is also a beautiful option and it is only my personal opinion that sways me towards Emilia.

I like both with Claire (and can I say…Claire Julianne is a fantastic combination!).

I agree, I’d like Emelia Grace much more spelt Emilia (Especially since it’s so close to Emily, which is never spelt Emely). I honestly like Fiona more than Emilia, but I think Emilia Grace sounds better than Fiona Grace, and I think Emilia and Claire would be lovely together!

Twosapphires took the words right out of my mouth. Change it to Emilia Grace and that’s a winner! Otherwise, I think Fiona is a nice fresh option.

Thanks for the feedback. If we go with Emelia, we will stick with that spelling variation. I think it’s pretty and the other one reminds too much of Emilio Estevez for some reason. Funny the way the brain connects things, I guess. Mostly, I like the name Emmy, but would want her to have it work off a longer name to give her some options as she got older. We already have an Emily in the family, so that was out. Emelia was just the Em name that appealed to me. I can’t say we’re any closer to deciding, but the opinions registered are much appreciated. Thanks! :)

I’d definitely go for Emilia, simply because I ADORE the nickname Emmy.

I actually love the third option of Samantha Mae!
