I love Timothy! I think it ages well, and it’s not too popular here in the UK (only 160 in 2012). The only downside is that I dislike Tim and Timmy, which are quite obvious nicknames. Otherwise it’s a great name.
Hm. I like it because I like the nickname Tim, and Timmy’s cute on a kid. But then, the fact that it has “moth” in it really does not appeal to me…. I don’t think there’s any other way to get Tim/Timmy, and I think it’s a solid, well-known but a little underused name. I just don’t think I’d personally use it….
I love the name Timothy, he would grow up never having to correct anyone on how to spell or pronounce it, the nn Tim sounds strong and established like he’d know what he’s saying and doing, I went to school with a Tim and he was one of the nicest guys, always would associate the name back to him, he didn’t seem to get picked on ever because he made an effort not to pick on anyone and stand up for those who got picked on themselves not to mention he was in with the popular crowd,, long story short the name would be on my list if I were having a boy.
