Thoughts on Orielle?

I’ve always liked the name Arielle but not enough to ever use it on a child. Recently, I heard of Orielle and immediately fell in love with it! I like it because it’s so pretty but also because it’s unusual but won’t make people think “whoa, she was on crack when this kid was born”.
I’m a bit unsure about it though. Any general thoughts about it? Do you think it’s too strange? Bear in mind I live in the UK where people are generally less accepting of unusual names.
Also, I can’t think of many middle names for it. My only ideas are Beth (just because) and Lorelei (anagram of Orielle.) Any other ideas that aren’t too normal are very welcome :-)

i think that would be a great name. i just am hesitant because ive never heard of it as a name. so im wondering if it is a real a name. it looks like its supposed to be arielle or the oriel bird. i definately wouldnt use lorelei as a middle name. what a tongue twister! on the other hand, lorelei is a beautiful underused name

Meh, I want to like it, since I’ve been liking some “O” names lately (particularly Odette and Odilia!), but I don’t. I don’t like those rarer “O” names that are Ari look alikes (Oriana instead of Ariana, Orielle instead of Arielle)–and it seems like a smoosh of Arielle and Oriole (both of which are much prettier, imo!). My favorite Arielle variant is Ariella (omgoodness, LOVE it so much!), but I like Arielle a lot, too, and the meaning (lioness of God) is lovely and strong. I would much prefer to meet an Arielle/Ariella over an Orielle. Sorry.

I agree, I wouldn’t do Orielle Lorelei, but the others are fine.

I agree with the others, too much like Oriole – a type of bird – to me. I think Oriole could be a kind of cool name on it’s own, but Orielle seems like a bizarre twist on it. Honestly, I like Arielle so much more, and I feel like Arielle/Ariel is common enough that Orielle would be confused for it pretty often.

Lorelei, though, I absolutely LOVE. What about that as a first name instead of a middle name? It’s such a cool, beautiful name….

It reminds me too much of oriole or oral, too. Sorry! I do like Lorelei though!

It reminds me wayyyy to much of Oral, sorry! :(

Pretty sound, I just don’t think it’s that usable as a first name these days. What if you put it in the middle spot? Like Beth Orielle? Or Lila Orielle? Sienna Orielle, olive Orielle, Pippa Orielle, Aria Orielle?

Sorry, I agree with the general concensus.. It reminds me of too many things that just aren’t ”pretty” if we’re not receptive to it being from the US I can only imagine how it would go over in the UK. I like Ariel, Arielle, Arielle, Lorelei though!

Thanks for being honest, I appreciate all the suggestions :-) I probably wouldn’t have used it anyway (it was in the 4th or 5th spot) I never thought of the “oral” connotation, I can imagine an Orielle would get shit for that at school!

I just met a little girl named Oriana. It made me think of your Orielle so I thought I’d mention it :)
