    Hello all!
I really love the name Raphael. Nicknames could be Raphy or Raph. I like interesting middle names like Jupiter. Suggestions/opinions welcome!
    Thanks,
    Pompeii :)

    I’m into unusual names too.

I love Raphaelle for a girl, and the boys name is great too. Raphi/Raphy, Rapha, Rafe are the obvious nicknames.

Raphael is pretty interesting in and of itself. Can’t say I really like Jupiter, especially as Raphael Jupiter is pretty long, but the Roman God was known as Jove for short (hence the saying “By Jove”), and that could be cute: Raphael Jove.

Other cool 2 syllable names from mythology/Ancient history (I’m guessing your handle “Pompeii” is an indicator) that go well with Raphael:

    Ajax
    Atlas
    Cato
    Dante
    Hector
    Leo
    Linus
    Marcus
    Milo
    Nero
    Nestor
    Pallas
    Remus

Also – they’re 3 syllables, but I think Cicero and Atticus are great too :)

    I love Raphael, too! :)
I like pp’s suggestions of Raphael Milo or Raphael Marcus.

I really like Raphael, but the nicknames are a deal-breaker for me: I think Raphy and Raph are both a little ridiculous and unappealing, and there really aren’t other logical options for a nickname. If I could guarantee Raphael wouldn’t be shortened, I’d love it a lot, but the nicknames are so much less impressive…

I like the idea of unique middle names, too, though Jupiter wouldn’t be my first choice – everyone thinks of the planet first, and that males it seem a bit cheesy. I like the suggestion Raphael Marcus a lot, or Raphael Jove could be pretty cool! Raphael on it’s own is pretty unique, so I wouldn’t go too over-the-top with a middle name.
Or, maybe some other mythological/Greco-Roman names:
    Romulus
    Ares
    Apollo
    Jason
    Osiris
    Virgil
    Phoebus
    August/Augustus
    Ovid
    Paris
    Victor
    Evandrus/Evander
    Seneca
    Janus
    Achilles
    Troy
    Felix
    Julian/Julius

Raph seems cool and down-to-Earth, and Raphy adds some cuteness and fun. They aren’t as serious as Raphael, so they make good nicknames. Also, I like Jupiter partially because of the celestial connotations.

Theoretically I like Jove, but I think it’s a bit too short as a middle name for Raphael, making the combo seem imbalanced. Also, the V sound is a little repetitive with the PH sound.

Thanks for the suggestions so far; any more would be welcomed!

I think Raphael Jove could sound good depending on how it flows with your last name. How many syllables is your LN?
I do really like Raphael Julius or Raphael Victor, too. To me, “ph” and “v” are different enough to not sound repetitive but of course what matters is what sounds good to your ear! :)

    A few more thoughts:
    Raphael Desmond
    Raphael Sebastian
    Raphael Marco
    Raphael Maximus
    Raphael Ezra
    Raphael Simon
    Raphael Dominic

Probably not spunky enough for you but a friend just named her baby Raphael Jospeh.

    How about:

    Raphael Xander
    Raphael Gideon
    Raphael Jonas
    Raphael Malcolm
