Random; how long do your kids' shoes last?

I just realized that Alex has had his sneakers since his 4th birthday so he’s worn the same pair of sneakers for almost a year now and they still fit and haven’t worn out! Will got new sneakers last winter too but I already had to get him new ones this summer because he had outgrown them.

How long do your kids’ shoes last and how old are they?

Morgan’s usually last until she outgrows them. She has three pairs of sneakers that she’s had for about 9 months (2 nice and 1 play), and I keep waiting for her to tell me they’re too tight! It’s gotta happen soon.

She’s 8, and OT, but we went shopping for winter boots on Saturday, and I had to buy her a women’s size 7! Poor thing is going to take after her mother and have clown feet. They’re not much bigger than the kids size 5 shoes she has, though. I figured it’d pick up at 5 or 6 in women’s, but they had an awesome sale and we got her another pair of shoes that were also a 7 so I don’t think it’s a fluke.

My daughters usually last from birthday to birthday! She will take her shoes off whenever possible too! :/

Up until recently, we were buying my 4 year old new shoes more or less constantly, but now her shoes last around a year probably. She wears flip-flops for 80% of the year though, so it is harder to notice when they are too small.

Ethan wore his last pair of shoes for at least 9 months. I was worried he’d have abnormally small feet since he wore a 7.5 until 3 months after his 4th b-day. Then one day right before school started, he suddenly needed a size and a half larger. I always have just two pairs of shoes that I have him alternate throughout the week. They never completely wear out, but they do tend to look well used by the time he outgrows them. When he was younger, I had to buy new shoes for both summer and winter, but now he can go much longer before he outgrows them.

Inga, I was starting to wonder if Alex will have abnormally small feet, too! Usually you hear about kids outgrowing shoes so fast, I was surprised they’ve lasted him a year and still fit.

Yes, I always hear about kids outgrowing shoes so fast. I’ve just never experienced it firsthand. When I had Ethan’s feet measured last time, the woman was told me that his shoes had likely stretched out which is part of how he could wear them so long, but I guess if both your boys had the same shoes it wouldn’t explain the ability for only one to wear a pair of shoes for so long.

My kids typically have several pairs of shoes (we get a lost of hand me downs) so they rarely wear out. They usually get a pair of crocs (generic brand) new each summer – that they pretty much wear out.

The lasting of the shoes depends on how much my children will use the shoes. Now they are grown up otherwise they had this habit of kicking all the things. So Use to hide a pair of shoes so that they can wear when we are going out.
