Plans for the Fourth?

I can’t believe it’s only a week away! Where did June go?

I think Friday we’re just going downtown to watch fireworks. Saturday we’re spending the day with family, swimming, cooking out and watching the insane amount of fireworks my uncle always buys and sets off at their campground.

Gigi asked to go see the fire works.

this is a big deal for us b/c she has always been so sensitive to loud noises that we’ve never actually taken her so i havent been to the fireworks in 8 years either! we’re just going to a little show the town puts on at the local elementary school. that’s all we really have planned.

DH will probably be working (from home) most of the day. I’m hoping we can grill out and go see fireworks at least. I’ll also probably do a lot of cleaning because I have a friend coming from LA to stay for 10 days; she’s flying in on the 5th.

The fourth is always a big extravaganza for us. We start our day around 7:30. We head over to Shaun’s brothers house around 9. From there we walk up town and get our spots to watch the parade (our town has an hour-ish long parade every year). Then we head back to there house where we spend the day swimming, cooking out, hanging out whatever. Between 7-7:30pm we head back up town to get our spot at the park to watch the fireworks. After we get situated we get our carnival food (our town has a carnival set up at the local park every year). Then we head back to our seats and watch the fireworks. After that we go back to Nicks house and usually let the kids play with sparklers and those pop things.

It makes for a very long day but a good one. Fourth of July is my favorite holiday

Magster, i think we’ll get her some ear plugs. that might help, but we have told the older two that we might have to take Gigi home early. she once ran into the street to avoid a lawn mower making noise fifty feet away. :(

Wow, rylane, that sounds like a fun, busy day! I love the Fourth too! And I really love that it’s on a Friday this year!

Gaamy, I’m sure that’ll help! Does she like listening to music with headphones? That may be an idea too.

    We will probably grill out!

I agree with Magster, If Gigi likes to listen to music on headphones, that may make it more enjoyable for her! (I understand why she would run from the noisy lawn mower, sometimes they can even scare me! ;)

I know – it seems the 4th happened waaay too quickly!
We have 2 parties to go to on Friday and one on Saturday. I would love to sleep ;) We have a lot of running around to fit in some time too

I spent the day packing and painting, but in the evening my parents came over and we watched the fireworks. They are set off a block away from our house, so we just walked out the front door and sat with our neighbors in their yard. Ethan was crazy with excitement and spent half the time running around waving his glowy jewelry he’d made earlier in the day. The weather was amazing! It’s been about 75 the past few days. I can’t remember ever having so cool a fourth of July. The bugs weren’t even out. :) I hope every one had a good 4th.

    That’s cool, Inga. :)

We ended up cleaning ALL day, but we did manage to grill out and see fireworks.
