What do you think of these names? Inspired by Anabel’s post from today. :)

I’m not sure about them. I really want to like them, but neither of them catch my attention. They seem a bit serious, and I prefer other similar names like Flavia, which feels more playful. But I could warm to them, with a lot of persuasion, and I think they’d make a brilliant sibset.

Flavia is interesting. It does have a more playful sound, though it makes me think of “flavor” … and Stevia.

I like Aurelia – It’s similar enough to Aurora to not seem over the top, and it’s pretty and would fit in with names today. Octavia, however, screams Ancient Rome/The Hunger Games (most of the rich people in the society the books are essentially attacking have Roman names).

@TheWishingStar, I definitely see what you mean. I like the sound of Octavia but I think it would be harder to pull off than Aurelia. I agree that Aurelia would fit in pretty well. :)
I’ve never read/seen The Hunger Games so thanks for explaining that. :)

I think the name Aurelia is pretty, but would never use it myself because it sounds too much like aureola. Octavia makes me think she should be conquering nations. Tavi might be a cute nn for it though.

In theory, I really love both. They are strong, feminine and unusual with history and character to them. Just my style.

In practice, whilst I would be happy to see someone use the name Aurelia, I hear ‘oral’ every time it’s said. :-/

Octavia is one I would probably consider if my boyfriend would ever go for it, though I know it may seem a little over the top. It is cool and I love the nickname Tavi. The ’8′ meaning bothers me a little but that’s my OCD-ness for you!

Octavia reminds me of The Help, for some reason. Was one of the characters an Octavia? I like it, though.

Aurelia, I LOVE, though. If Arianne wasn’t my second pick for a girl, either Ariella, Aurelia/Aurelie, or Aurora would probably be on my list instead. (I’m a huge fan of Ari as a nn!) Aurelia’s so regal and gorgeous.
