Nicknames for Daphne

I really like the name Daphne, but I don’t know how I feel about Daphy as a nickname. I really like Dottie as a nickname, but I’m not really sure I can justify it as a nickname for Daphne. Do you think it works? Also, what other nicknames/short forms do you find for it?

    Thanks!

I don’t see Dottie as a really logical nickname for Daphne, but you could probably use it. Especially if the middle name started with a T, I think that would make sense.
I agree that I don’t like Daphy – it’s no shorter than just saying Daphne. Maybe just Daph? Or Danny/Dani? Or something like Didi/Dede or Nini/Nene? Personally I don’t think Daphne is a long enough name to even need a nickname, but you could probably shorten it to something pretty easily…

I agree with TWS. Does it need a nn? It’s a short beautiful name as it is, and it sounds casual enough that it wouldn’t seem strange on a two year old.

Dottie doesn’t make sense to me.
I know two people named Daphne. One is a little girl, and she always gets called by the full Daphne as far as I know. The other one is an adult and she gets called Daph, Daphers or DaiDai at times.

I went to school with a Daphne and we mostly called her Daphne. She occasionally got Daph, rarely ever Daphy. Weirdly enough, a lot of the time we called her Duck! Not sure where that nickname came from but people call her that to this day.

Yellowwatts – Probably from Daffy Duck? Which is why I would be really hesitant about Daphy, or even Daph. I feel like the character would still be well-known enough for kids these days to think of that…

Yeah, definitely from Daffy Duck. The adult Daphne I knew got called that sometimes too.
