I didn’t meet very many interestingly named kids today (although I did meet an adorable baby Emma!), but I came across adults with these interesting names:
Adelaida (I wonder if this is Adelaide-ah or add-eh-LYE-dah? I could see either. Either way, I love it!)
Optimus (I don’t know whether to take this seriously or not, but if somebody can pull it off, it is seriously cool!)
I like Adelaida, too! And of course I love Leo. I’m neutral on George.
Optimus … wow. I’m sure all the Transformers fans love that one.
I just came across the name Zia. I thought that was interesting! (Not sure if it’s short for something; I was curious if it’s a real name but couldn’t find it on this site.)

I’ve met a little Xia before (Prn Zia) It’s way too cute!
Recently I have heard:
Rafael (nn Rafa)
Iolanthe (nn Io)
Millicent (nn Millie)
Saskia (nn Sassy)
Interesting names, @Tara! I knew a Saskia once. She was from South Africa, IIRC. Iolanthe is interesting. I love Rafael. Millicent/Millie is cute and Aurelia is very pretty. Maximus always strikes me as a big name to pull off; how old was he?
I just came across the name Kalyson. I’d never heard that name before.

@TwoSapphires Maximus is all of 4 months old. He goes by Max 90% of the time

Some more girls from work:
Jacqueline and Valares
Briggitta “B” (or maybe “Bee”?)
Madison (all the Madisons are starting to be teenagers. It feels so wrong. I think of Madison as a trendy newborn name still)
I haven’t heard Valares or Mylah before.
I love Brigitta; I don’t remember ever hearing it outside of The Sound of Music!
@TheWishingStar, fwiw, Madison *is* still a trendy newborn name. But yeah, the first Madison I ever knew is in HS now!

Going through some names of friends we both have on facebook, here’s some different ones (canada has a different mix of all different cultures making some names stand out):

I met an adorable baby girl today named Maxine. I had heard people were using it and liking it again, but I was even more turned off by it than I expected to be, unfortunately.
And the newest influx of employees at work (just because they sound more like newborn babies than teenagers, haha!):
Ana (her full name, I think, is so utterly gorgeous! Ana River@ F!ores. Isn’t it lovely?)
Samuel (at least, I think that’s his full name)
Yonai (pronounced juh-NYE)
In general, I really love them! I feel so old, though, that teenagers have names like this which are so unlike the trendy names of my day, haha!
@ashthedreamer, I know a young girl named Maxine. I find it kind of unfortunate too. :/ It is one of those names I want to like … but really don’t, for a few reasons. I also think she is going to get called “maxi pad” constantly in middle school.
Lilia is so pretty! Like you, I like all of them.
Today in the nursery we had:

Ella Carmine – Not loving Carmine on a girl, even if it did honor the mom’s grandfather
Eva (big bro Henry)
I do love Eva.
I like Nina, but not the Neena spelling.
