Names of your older relatives?
We know that “old-fashioned” names are very popular now. What are the names of your older relatives? Curious to see which have made a comeback and which have not.
Some from my family:
Emilie (pronounced like Emilia)
Certainly a lot of those are popular again, with just a few exceptions!
And for men:
(Bet you can guess my heritage. ;))
Not so many popular names in that group!

Rosemary (went by her middle name Mearl (sp?))

John (who went by Jack… which just makes me love Jack more!)
great aunts and uncles:
Merle (uncle, not aunt)
Wanda (ironically, Patricia and Wanda both have the same middle–which also happens to be my middle, and they’re sisters)
Muriel Cathleen “Cathie” (I so love the idea of Mirielle in honor of her! She’s my grandma’s best friend and such a sweet little lady. I rarely see her anymore, but I love her to bits)
Jeremiah “Jerry” (twin brother to John)
Great-grandparents (not even sure I really know these!):
Katherine Amelia “Katie”
Christie Mae (I think?)
Nothing gets super interesting (or cool vintage, not icky vintage!) until you get to my great grandparents. I have found a bunch of gems in my family tree, though, that I really love:
Avery (on a boy!!!)
Drury (doubt I’d use it, but I think it’s interesting!)
There’s also loads of classic and awesome German names in there, like Catharina, Magdalena, Samuel, Henry, Anna, etc. I remember coming across Anna Clara Elizabeth somewhere, and thinking it was the most beautiful name in the world. Wouldn’t Anna Clara be such a darling double barrel?

I really like Emmeline, Eliza, Cora and Magdalena! And I agree, Anna Clara is darling. I know an Anna Claire here and I love that too.

My dad is Lebanese so there may be some that you won’t recognize, especially for the males. When they emigrated to Canada they anglicized the female names but kept the male ones the same. I can’t remember most of them, but the ones I do know:
Cecile (or Cecilia)
Sadie (anglicized to Susan)
Jamal (anglicized to Judy)
