    Hi,

I would like to get some feedback on which names you like from my list below?

Our favourite name from the list is Rumi, so I’ll put it up the top. Your thoughts?

    Rumi
    Luiz
    Oscar
    Malik
    Joaquim
    Miles

    Thanks :)

I like Luiz (though personally I like Luis better) or Miles!

I like Oscar and Luiz (pronounced w/Z instead of S). I don’t dislike Rumi, makes me think of Remy, but am not sure if it’s pronounced Roo-mee or Rum-ee (or I instead of E). Not a fan of Malik (that’s one of my co-workers last names) or Joaquim. I like Niles better than Miles, but still don’t care much for that. But I do like Milo.

Thanks for all of your opinions and suggestions.

Its actually Rumi pronounced Roomi (after the 13ths century Persian Poet) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rumi

I also like Lenin, Luiz is spelt with a Z as its my husbands middle name. (Portuguese connection)

Oh its not easy! As I love Rumi… the question is, do I or don’t I listen to all the advice? Or do I go on a whim and choose Rumi?
    :)

Ohh, I didn’t realize Luiz was the Portuguese version of Luis. My husband’s family is also Portuguese. :) I like that! What if you name him Luiz Rumi?

We are actually thinking of Luiz Rumi. Its just that my heart says Rumi Luiz!!!

Oh I don’t know. Its so tricky! I feel as though with the name Rumi, it does get a bit of a strange reaction, unless of course the person I am telling knows about the connection to the Poet.

(Ugh, my phone deleted my post…)
I kind of like Rumi, honestly (It’s enough like the French Remy, which I love!), but I kind of worry it might be too much like the word roomy? I like the combo Luiz Rumi, but I do like Rumi more that Luiz.

I also really adore Joachim!! It’s one of those names that would totally be on my list if I wouldn’t be judged so much for it (I’m white and live in an area with a large Hispanic population, and I feel like using a name like Joaquim/Joachin would come off as really tacky…)

    Thanks for all your comments.

The Wishing Star, if you love the name Joachim, then I say go for it. Don’t let what other people may say put you off… and as far as the name being tacky because your white, I see it as the opposite, that people would embrace your choice. I love seeing names from one culture being intertwined into the culture of another. Its lovely and is open to so many wonderful possibilities.

So far, were really happy with the combination ‘Rumi Luiz’. <3

Helen, I think you should take your own advise: “Don’t let what other people may say put you off” ;)
