How do you feel about Moira?

    Moira Jane or Moira Clemence?

I love it! Especially if you have an Irish-sounding last name. If you have a very ethnic-sounding last name that isn’t Irish, it may not work as well (Moira Chang or Moira Schweinsteiger for example)

I think it’s ok but I much prefer Mara. :)

I don’t dislike it, but I like Mariah, Mara, and Maira all more. It’s pretty, but I don’t really see it as anything special.

hmm, last name is Pavlik… so definitely not Irish (Czech) is it too ethnic?

I love Moira! I think Moira Clemence sounds lovely, and it could work even if you don’t have an Irish surname.

i like it. it would be cool to meet someone named moira. its a vintagey uncommon name. the oi part sounds a bit strange. but i like names ending in ra and starting with m so this works. moira jane is pretty. clemence doesnt sound girly

I like Moira okay, but I like Maura much more. I think Moira Jane and Moira Clemence are both lovely!

I like it! Moira Jane :)
I think it’s fine with your last name. I plan on using an irish fn even though my last name is italian

How do you pronounce it? more-a?

I’ve heard it both like more-ah and MOY-ra. I’ve always assumed MOY-ra was more correct, though, as that seems more common, and since I know it has Greek origins, where that would make more sense… Might be a difference in Greek vs Irish origin, though? Now I’m curious….

TBH, not a fan, but if you like it, go for it. I prefer it with Clemence.

I think Moira is a lovely and underused name. Both middle name choices pair well with Moira and you can’t go wrong! Congratulations and good luck!

Thanks for your input, all! Yes, I would say MOY-ra though I am aware in Ireland it’s more-a.

Ah, interesting! The Moira I knew first pronounced it more-ah so that tends to be my default. I do personally really like the more-uh/Maura pronunciation a lot better but both are nice names.
