Looking for Ideas for Leo Combos

    I’ve been set on Leo Gabriel for a long time, but my husband isn’t a huge fan of Gabriel mainly because it’s pronounced differently in his family’s culture. Essentially the pronunciation of Gabriel and Gabrielle are swapped making it somewhat confusing gender-wise between the cultures. His favorite combo is Leo Alexander (his given name is Alexis). I do like the sound of Leo Alexander, but I have two questions about it:

    1) Would it be really odd to have a second born with a middle name honoring his father when the first born doesn’t have a family name?

    2) Ethan’s (our first born) middle name is Xavier, pronounced X-avier (not like Zavier). Would Alexander seem too redundant?

    Any other ideas for middle names to go with Leo? Last name is also two-syllables and starts with an R.

    1) Mmm, maybe a little, but it’s been done.
    2) I don’t think so.

    A good friend of mine just had a baby named Leo Alexander. I swooned over the name. :) And of course I love Leo Gabriel as well. Some other ideas:

    * Leo Grayson (I don’t normally like Grayson that much but I really like it with Leo for some reason)
    * Leo Charles
    * Leo Henry
    * Leo Oliver (I know this puts two “O”s next to each other but since they make different sounds, I think it works)
    * Leo Daniel
    * Leo Sebastian
    * Leo Michael
    * Leo Dashiell
    * Leo Hudson
    * Leo Desmond

    Apparently Leo Alexander is a popular combo! I’m a little bothered by that. I’m glad it doesn’t seem too odd with Ethan’s name though. Grayson makes me think of Emerson, which was a middle name we were thinking about a while back. Leo Emerson, maybe? I like Oliver a lot, but since our last name also has a strong O sound, I think it might be too much. Sebastian is a possibility. I seem to be drawn to the three-syllable plus middle names. I’ll have to do some more brain storming.

    Thanks for the ideas!

    I do like Leo Emerson! I think that could work well. And I do like Leo Sebastian. :)

    And actually if your LN is 2 syllables and so is Leo, of course, then I think you’re right that 3+ syllables for the MN would probably be the best flow.

    Alex is so set on Leo Alexander at the moment, and doesn’t like any of the alternatives nearly as much, so we may be decided on this one … at least for now.

    1. Don’t think so
    2. Def. not., they’re different enough :)

    I like Leo Alexander by far the best with Leo Sebastian as the runner up.

    Names I think are similar to suggest:

    Leo Benjamin
    Leo Andrew
    Leo William
    Leo Christopher
    Leo Christian
    Leo Donovan
    Leo Thomas
    Leo August
    Leo Everett
