Karl? Carl?

I’ve been thinking about it lately, not really sure where I stand on it. A bit outdated? Or common and classic enough to work? Maybe as a middle name?

I personally like the K spelling better, because I find the letter C useless.
But what do you all think?

Karl brings Karl Marx to mind for me right away; I like Carl better. I like Carlos even better.
I think Carl is OK. I don’t have strong feelings on it either way. It could definitely work as a middle name. Carlton could work too.

My area has way too large of a Hispanic population to use Carlos for a white kid and not get a ton of hate for it, but I do like the name a lot. Hmm.

Much prefer the K spelling. Carl looks weak. Karl looks smart and interesting and dashing! :)

I really don’t like it at all. It was my granddad’s name so it’s all old man to me. ;)

I’d use the K spelling and as a middle name. I agree that with a C it looks weak. As a first name it does sound too out dated to me but also reminds me of The Walking Dead. My newest nephew is named Leo Karl. I like it.
