Juliette-Yay or Nay?

Juliette is one of those great names you hear and go “gosh, that’s so pretty”. I’ve always been a very big fan of the name and I have begun to really dig the French spelling of it; I think it makes it look more elegant. But I’m interested to know what others think. Is it worth putting on a names list for possible names?

i love it. it is one of those names that is soo pretty. i like the juliet spelling or this spelling. im not sure though if it has teasing potential. like will she always get, “wheres romeo?” plus i dont like the story of romeo and juliet. i would want my daughter to be much smarter than her. im hoping the association isnt too strong but thats my only concern about the name. i hope more people use it so it becomes more main stream.

I think it’s very pretty. I personally think the Juliet spelling looks better.
I do agree with Kimiha in reservations about the Romeo and Juliet association. That would probably keep me from using it but I wouldn’t think twice if someone else used it.

I really like Juliet with this spelling. Not that Juliette is terrible, I just prefer the more straight forward spelling here. My son actually has an adorable Juliet in his pre-school class. I’ve never noticed any kids at the school being teased about their name, but I have noticed a lot of adults seem to mishear her name as Julia.

I love this name! And the spelling you chose for it is my absolute favorite! I could never use it because my last name ends in ‘ette’ and just sounds horrid, lol. But I think it’s beautiful!

I like it spelled either way.

    I love Juliet!
while I appreciate the French spelling, if you’re going to have the Romeo and Juliet association, you really might as well spell it right. Juliet just looks so much nicer to me, too. I don’t really mind the Romeo and Juliet thing. Like, no, Juliet is not a character I admire a whole lot, but I love Shakespeare, I love Shakespearean names, and in general, those names are pretty respectable and classy.

I like the name, also prefer it spelled Juliet! I think with women’s names (because some day she’ll be a woman, not a girl!) there’s a tendency to just add more letters or syllables, rather than letting it stand strong on its own. Especially since the suffix “ette” indicates “little something,” I would give her the spelling that feels less like a little, decorated thing.

Just my thoughts on seeing it!
