Funny story, I love Irish names for boys, but not girls… (It’s true! The two that I thought I could stomach for girls–Isla and Fiona–I’ve recently learned are Scottish, not Irish!) I know. I’m very odd. Is anyone else like that? You like names of a certain nationality for one gender, but not the other? I used to be the same way about French girls’ names (Aurelie, Odette, Madeleine, Charlotte, Isabelle, Claire, Camille, Arianne, etc., etc., etc.) but none for boys (although I’ve recently discovered some loves–Baptiste, Auguste, Gaspard/Caspar, even Leo, which in French, has an accent over the “E” and is pronounced like LAY-oh).
Anyway, without further ado:
Aislinn (only kind of, though. I’m not as in love as I once was, and I’d never use it, since I’m Ashley…)
Seamus (OMGoodness, SEAMUS!!!!)
What’s not to like about Irish boys’ names? They’re so ruggedly handsome and outdoorsy, and the accent and the muscles and the charm… bahaha. I just find Irish girls’ names to be so ugly, though. There are so few that I like! I can semi-tolerate Aoife, but I like Eva so much more…
I like the boy names better too, it would probably be shorter to list which ones I don’t like haha. I like how the girl ones sound just not the spellings. My list is primarily Irish..
Maeve (my fave!!)
