Bella said that the other day because I asked them to clean up after breakfast. It didn’t bother me as much as I thought it would have.
Have your kids said anything similar?

Not yet, but I’m sure it is only a matter of time. My daughter’s latest is to pretend she has physically hurt herself when I reprimand her for something. At first I thought that her crying made her bump into things or something, then (after admittedly far too long a period) I started getting suspicious. Two days ago after I scolded her at the dinner table, she theatrically threw herself from the chair and claimed to have fallen. I was just like, oh please. I was prepared for having my kids tell me they hate me from time to time. Nothing could have prepared me for this child ;-)

Oh yes. They want a different mommy, I’m the meanest mommy ever, etc.
They also do it to each other: “You’re not my brother anymore!”

Not yet, but I never remembering saying that type of thing to my parents, so I’m hoping to be so lucky with my own kid (but not holding my breath). I think it’s a personality thing and I have always been emotionally reserved. Ethan isn’t quite as reserved, but he’s still not a heart on his sleeve type of guy. I’ll just have to wait and see.

I don’t remember ever saying that to my mom – I was very close to my mom growing up though. My brother said worse than that I am sure.
She has said it several times now and I am not hurt by it – I am just annoyed. She will say it while she is crying and then in the next breath she will ask for a hug while she is saying it again.

Oh I’m sorry. :( I’m sure she didn’t “really” mean it but it’s still hard to hear.

My daughter says stuff like that to me a lot, then follows up, Do you still love me Mama?

I tend to get “I wish Daddy was home.” Before having her I never, ever, ever would have imagined that I’d be the hard one and he’d be the softie.

I don’t take it personally either. I usually wish he was home to deal with her too when she says it. LOL
