    My names that I probably wouldn’t use but would love seeing on someone else. ;)

    * Seraphina (I actually would really consider this but I just asked DH and he said it has a bad association for him; someone he grew up with. Darnit)
    * maybe Evangeline. ;) I haven’t decided yet. I do feel like it’s kind of a big name to pull off … but I love it.
    * Azalea
    * Willow
    * Avonlea
    * Wisteria (though a certain TV show may have ruined this one)
    * Amaryllis
    * Desmond (this is another that I *probably* would use if DH would go for it but I might be too chicken b/c I think it would get more teasing in our area)
    * Jackson. I loved this before it became super popular. Part b/c I love the sound and also in honor of a family I’ve been close to since I was 14.

    Oh and a few biblical ones that I probably wouldn’t have the guts to pull off:

    * Sapphira. I think this is a gorgeous name but hate that it has such a negative association in the Bible.
    * Delilah. See above.
    * Ezekiel. Cool name but I think it might be a little hard to pull off. Just a little.
    * Zephaniah

    I have a couple categories of GP names:

    Unisex names:

    I have one, and I hate that it makes me feel like I can’t embrace my femininity, like I should be more masculine than my sisters because I have a more masculine name. In reality, I’m way more feminine/girly than they are, haha. So no unisex names for girls up front. I am so sad to lose Jocelyn, Grier/Greer, and Hadley, most of all, but I also have my spurts of loving Addison and Harper.

    Out-there word names:

    I just feel like they wouldn’t be taken seriously. They have a cool sound, cool ties, but I feel like they just shouldn’t be used in real life (unless they’re a nn. I could get into them as a nn):

    Sonnet/Sonata
    Linnet
    Posy
    Primrose
    Monet
    Poet
    Poesy (poe-ess-ee)
    etc.

    Nicknames as given names:

    I just prefer the fuller options of a full name with a nn. There’s only a couple nns I can get into as JUST the nns (Tess and Jack are the only ones on my list). But I really love some just nicknames, like:

    Tally
    Lottie (omgoodness, I LOVE just Lottie so much!)

    Polish names:

    omgoodness, I adore international names so much, and feel my list navigating in that direction, but Polish names are my one GP! I feel like they’re so unusable, but I adore them so stinkin’ much:

    Lilija (Lilia)
    Gracja (GRAHS-yah)
    Ariadna
    Cecylia
    Jonasz
    Eliasz
    etc.

    And one standalone name that really doesn’t fit in with anything, but I adore it:

    Ophelia!

    I adore it, would easily use it up front (right now I have it as Violet Ophelia Claire, which I adore!), if I could find a nn for it I really love (Ofey? Fifi? Faye? Lia? Effie? *blech*). Sure, it has negative, depressing Shakespeare connotations. I could get over that. It’s beautiful, and it existed before Shakespeare. Sure, it has a sound that could be extremely teaseworthy, but I could get over that, too, if it had a good nickname. But the closest I get to anything I find remotely appealing is Lia, which isn’t bad… but Ophelia is so unexpected and ethereal and gorgeous. Lia is just a huge let-down after that. It’s not very cute–it’s been too overused for that. It’s not unusual, it’s not adorable, it’s just Lia. I like it more than Sia and Pia and Ria and several of the other -ias (I do think I like Mia more…), but it’s just Lia. It’s nothing special. Not for me, at least. So I can’t really seem to get into it. I adore it, though, and feel it would go really quite well with my other favorites. Isabelle, Arianne, Olivia, Violet, Emmeline, Eleni, Catherine, Charlotte, Eva, Tess… och. If not for the stupid nickname thing.

    @TwoSapphires – Zephaniah is quite cool! I know a family with a Zeph@n, which is rumored to be a diminutive of Zephaniah, and that feels infinitely more usable to me. Still might be a bit too out-there with the traditional William and Alexander, though, haha. Maybe as a mn? Something like Isaac Zephaniah could be pretty cool!

    I think Cato is an awesome name (yeah, yeah Hunger Games Bandwagon XD)
    I wouldn’t use it though. One because instant Hunger Games association (or the Roman Politician. It’s bound to be linked to one of them), two because it’s just too “out there” for a kid today. I guess.

    Eclipse (for a girl), and Sherlock, as a middle name for my fave boys name.

    I love the name Isabella, but it is WAY TOO POPULAR and my sister-in-law is Isabel, so I wouldn’t use it. I pretty much like any name that ends in -ella.

    Two other names I think are pretty are Esperanza (hope) and Esmeralda (emerald), but my fiance’s last name starts with an E and has 4 syllables also so these wouldn’t sound good.

    I also like Azalea and Sapphire.

    Can’t think of any for boys because I don’t like a lot of boy names.

    Ooohhh Sherlock is cool but would definitely be a tough one to pull off!
