First Draft Boys Name List

    Hi everyone!

I am due later this year. My husband and I have already agreed on a girls’ name, but if we have a boy we’re a little more on the fence. We want a strong name that isn’t trendy (so no Mason or anything that rhymes with Aiden, etc.). What is your favorite of the below? OR I am open if you have any other ideas. Last name is two syllables and starts with L – THANK YOU in advance!

    Silas
    Titus
    Maximus/Maxwell
    Jackson
    Rocklan

    Hello there,

    Firstly, congratulations! :)

From your list I like Silas and Maxwell. Will there be a middle name?

Other suggestions- Jack, Evan, Matthew, Oscar, Zack, Lucas,Scott, Connor, locklan

    Hope that helps :)

It does help! Thank you @Phoenix84 for taking the time to reply

Middle name will be determined by what the first name ends up being. If it’s a little funkier, like Silas or Rocklan, we’ll keep the middle name simple, like Joseph or David.

Not a fan of Rocklan…it seems a little bit like its trying to hard to be trendy. If you like Rock or Rocky, I would go with that—straight up, rather than add a trendy suffix to it. Rockford, Raleigh and Redmond would be similar names that I think would be cool, strong and fit in your criteria of being versatile, yet not overly common.

Jackson and any Max name are also going to be very popular. If you want something more uncommon, I wouldn’t be looking at those either, but I like both names. Maxwell might be the better of those two, but it really is going to continue gaining popularity. Like names to consider: Mannix, Mack, Madoc, Magnus, Manford, Markham, Jarrett.

Silas is probably my favorite on your list. I like the thought and idea behind Titus, but you might want to be a little aware of the teasing potential of that one. There are plenty of kids called that already, so it might not be too much of an issue, but the part of my mind that is a permanent 12-year-old goes to “tight a**” as a taunt. Alternatives that are strong and less common would be: Tyrus, Tycho, Tyson, Tibor.

Silas gets my vote! I’m sorry to say, but Jackson is just as trendy as Mason and Aiden, if not more so. :( I do love Jack and John nn Jack, though!

    Maxwell!
I agree with Anabel and Ashthedreamer, though, Jackson and Max- variations are definitely getting really popular, though I would say they’re not “trendy” in the way the aiden names are. They’re pretty classic, just popular. That said though, I definitely like Maxwell the best of your list, and it’s not so popular that it’ll be an issue, really.
I don’t understand the general love for Silas, honestly, it always sounds like the type of thing you name a villain in a fantasy novel to me… Jackson I think is okay, but again, popular. There are so many Jacks out there. Titus and Rocklan are both kind of cool, but I agree with Anabel, Titus seems like it would make for a lot of trouble, and Rocklan seems a bit too bizarre for me (and if you google it, Google thinks it’s a typo for Rockland, which I think would bother me).

Of your ideas, I do love Silas. It’s softer, but still masculine, not trendy or common, but still easily recognized and has tons of history behind it.

Titus- it’s interesting, but not a favorite of mine.
Maximus/Maxwell- these are nice. Maxwell is probably the easier name to carry. Max names are definitely on the rise.
    Jackson – trendy
Rocklan – trying to hard and comes across as trendy

    Other ideas:
    August
    Jonas
    Caspian
    Julius
    Rowan
    Ronan
    Elliot
    Oscar
    Oliver

I vote for Silas! Great choice!
I really like Maxwell but as others mentioned “x” is a trendy letter right now and Jax, Max, etc. are pretty in. I wouldn’t rule it out though.
Not a fan of Rocklan. Jackson is uber trendy. (I like it but the super trendiness and all the cre8ive spellings have put me off it a bit.)
I really like the name Titus but I have a friend who was put off from using it by relatives pointing out that he’d get called “tight-a$$” by other kids,
