Elijah vs. Isaiah

What do you think of Elijah and Isaiah?
Which is your favourite, and why?
Do you think they could work as brothers or are they too close?

Also, if I remove one of these from my top 10 it would most likely be replaced by Atticus. Thoughts on that one?

    Thanks! :-)

I like Isaiah as a middle, but in general, I much prefer Elijah. So I would keep Elijah, and move Isaiah to the MN spot, maybe? I do think it’s too close to have them together, although I’m of the opinion that more than one -a(h) Biblical boys’ name in a sibset (at least as FNs–I’m not opposed to using one up front and one in the middle) is too matchy–Ezra, Elijah, Jonah, Judah, Isaiah, Noah, Micah, Isaiah, Jeremiah, etc. They just come off as really matchy to me.

I do love Atticus, though, and I think it’d fit really well on your list!

    Good luck!

I love them both. Isaiah is my favorite. I do think they are somewhat matchy but not bad.
I like both of them quite a bit more than Atticus. I know that name has had a huge surge in popularity lately and I love the literary reference, but to me it’s just a really odd-sounding name.

Elijah is my favorite of the three. I would replace Isaiah with Atticus. I agree with ash that Elijah and Isaiah are a little matchy

I love Elijah!! Isaiah is just not for me but I really like Isaac. I’m not keen on Atticus at all. Sorry. :(

Isaiah was one of the names on my boy list. I like Elijah, but it is very common at least where I live. In the preschool class I am in now, there are two boys named Elijah, and I worked in a middle school class with one Elyjah and one Elijah. I think they could work as sibling names.

I like Atticus so much more than either of them. It’s way more unexpected and cool sounding while still having an air of authority. And it’s such a refreshing choice to me – everyone loves it, but not a lot of people actually use it.

Elijah and Isaiah are both names I have a hard time imagining on an adult. They seem really cute for a little kid, but I’ve never met an adult Isaiah at all, only Isaacs, and all the Elijah’s I know go by Eli. I’m honestly not a huge fan of either, but I like Elijah way more than Isaiah. Isaiah’s so vowel-heavy, it sounds really flowy and uncertain to me.

I think they could work as sibling names, but they wouldn’t be my top choice – too similar and rhyme-y. They’re different enough, and both names are well-known enough, that it could work, but I’m with Ash: Biblical boys names all come off as really matchy to me. They all end in -ah sounds, which is so rare for boys names that I think it sticks out a lot.

i prefer isaiah. i dont know why but i just think of a handsome guy when i hear this name. elijah is fine. its really biblical sounding. i just like the sound of isaiah more. they cannot work as siblings. wayy too close. atticus is a name i hear on youtube and name boards alot. many people like it. i dont like it. it sounds like a weird stuffy old man name. but since many other people like it idk it might grow on me.
