Do you shop ahead for your kids?

Do you shop clearance sections for your children for the next year? Gymboree is having an awesome sale right now, as are many other places because of the holiday tomorrow. Might want to take advantage (especially if you also have a discount code)!

I don’t, but I know many women who do.

i really only do it if i find something super cheap and large enough that i am positive it will still fit when the next season rolls around.

Generally, I shop second hand for Ethan and look for good stuff within sizes for the next two years. We often have to wait for the clothes to fit, but it’s worth it for the prices. A great condition name-brand outfit costs under $10 so that’s hard to beat. When I do buy new I definitely look for the great sales. The Gap friends and family is my favorite. Gymboree tends to be expensive (in my opinion), so that sale would be a good way to take advantage if there’s something you have your eye on. I still have to do an inventory of Ethan’s clothes from last year. He fit into the same summer clothes the past two summers so we’ll likely be buying a whole new wardrobe this year.

I do, though I haven’t as much recently. A good friend sends me a big box of her sons’ hand-me-downs once or twice a year so I try to hold off and see what’s in that before I buy too much. I also buy a lot at consignment sales.

I did take advantage of it Inga! I never buy Gymboree at full price. I either have to have a code or it has to be on sale or better yet, both!! All three of my girls will be in school of some sort starting in August and I was able to get 17 items for $88. Not to shabby for Gymboree. I got several outfits in that as well, not just misc. pieces and no accessories that would offset that price. Each item averaged out to $5 or so. :)

I typically do, especially for shoes. I won’t buy a coat for next season but other stuff I do

Wow, Kendra, that is a great deal! We’re kind of on a spending freeze for now due to unexpected car repair expenses or I’d take advantage of that too!

Sounds like you got a great deal, Yellowwatts! I’m sure all that stuff will get lots of use in your household w/ all those little girls to pass things down to.

Oh and fortunately my boys’ growth has been predictable enough that buying ahead usually works out fine. Most of the time they are a size “ahead” of their age in shirts starting in the spring but a size behind that in bottoms. They got DH’s longer torso/shorter leg body type. :)
