I just have to get this out – I am so excited. H booked a week for us at a campground at the beach. This campground has it’s own beach and it is about a mile from a larger beach and they have shuttles to several places.
I am not saying anything about it because I know his family will want to come. There is just a lot of drama going on with them and they always end up coming. This will be the first vacation (other than weekend camping trips) that it has just been us. SO SO excited :)

that sounds like so much fun.

i’m considering staying with at my mom’s for a month this summer, just me and Gigi. it’s barely april and we’ve already had a very stressful year. it will be very nice to get away and just focus on my family and leave hubby to deal with the drama.

For Christmas we got a gift card for 3 days and 2 nights at any of 6 resorts, I want to go, but my husband lost his second job, and to keep from drowning in bills, he needs to find work! He will not be able to get away for a while, if or when he finds the second job! And right now, we can’t afford the travel part until he gets the second job! :(

Going to Hawaii in May and then Santa Cruz in June to see my new niece or nephew. And then in July going on a 5 day mountaineering trip.

My husband just started a new job and he doesn’t get vacation time for a year. :( So I think we’ll just spend a couple days at King’s Island or Holiday World since they’re both relatively close.

I will be taking care of our new baby this summer, so I can’t go too far away. We will probably go to the beach a few times since my Godparents live close by the beach. Does anyone know how old a baby has to be before you can bring them into the water? Both pool water and ocean water? I asked my mom but she has no idea.

We usually just do 2-3 day mini weekend vacations to somewhere close by. We went to Disney/the beach/lots of other stops along the way a couple years ago so that was a big trip for us. Excited to save up for another one in a year or two!

Jenni, it really depends on the individual situation. The biggest issues with very new babies in pools/oceans are sun and heat exposure and the temperature of the water, since newborns can become overheated or too cold very easily. I probably wouldn’t take a baby younger than a month or two old in unless the water felt like bathwater.

    Sara, that does sound exciting!
Jenni, ditto Magster on the water and heat/sun exposure (you can’t use regular sunscreen on babies till 6m old, which is another limiting factor. I think you can use the thicker zinc oxide cream though.)
We are hoping to do a reunion w/my family in the Midwest at some point this summer (waiting on news re BIL’s job before we can plan it for sure) and also do at least an overnight at the beach, maybe tent camping with the boys for the first time. :)

the in-laws are now coming, for at least half of the week. SIL ended up getting a condo with her H’s family for the same time (coincidence) and MIL is looking into hotels to stay at. At least will not be staying at the same place so we will not be on top of each other but I was SO looking forward to just some “us” time. They are great but at times totally undermine me and it pisses me off
