This is a name I’ve been toying with for a while but I don’t remember doing a name poll on it before. Thoughts?

    I’m not a fan. Sorry. :(

I don’t really like the sound of it; I find it a little hard to say, and I would be afraid people might call her “a vulva,” but maybe I’m just sick and twisted :-)

Sounds too much like Aveena to me.

I think I’m going to be the only one who actually quite likes the name Aviva. Even though its totally not my style, I do like it. However, I’m not sure if its the same for you, but over here in the UK, its the name of an insurance company.

I don’t like it. It sounds like something you see a lot of infomercials for – some sort of medication or weight-loss drug or shampoo. Or insurance company, like wishing_gate said.

I love it, actually! It sort of seems to combine Ava and Vivienne (although I think I might like Ava Vivienne as a combo better than Aviva on its own!). It’s so lively and happy, and I’d love to meet one. I also like Aziza…

Thanks for the responses! :) I have a friend with this name and have always liked it. I can see how it could sound like a product/company name, though I’d never thought of it that way.

embra what’s Aveena? Do you mean Aveeno?

Avena is the word for oatmeal in Spanish, but I use Aveeno lotion on the kids and I merged the two in my head :-) It occurs to me for the first time though that Aveeno is probably named as such because it is oatmeal-based.

I’ve actually worked at Aviva (insurance company), so I’m afraid I could never think of it as a person’s name.

I could not think of it as a name for a person either! My mother likes the Viva paper towels, and I would think “Hand me a Viva please!” :)

I had never heard of Aviva ins co before this thread!
I’ve used Viva paper towels before but hadn’t really thought of them in relation to the name before. It’s a Hebrew name so it has been a person’s name for many years. :) I’m not sure how common it is though but like I said, I do have one friend with this name who is a successful adult in her 30s so the name hasn’t held her back. ;)
I don’t think I’ll keep it on my list but thanks for the responses!

Neat about the oatmeal association! I love learning little stuff like that.

i think its cool. i think the 2 vs make it a bit strange though. i think akiva sounds better. otherwise, it seems like a unique but usable spin on ava and vivian.
