Are your kids doing any camps this summer?

I’m curious as to what camps are offered in your neck of the woods and what your kiddos are signed up for (or what they will go to).

We are thinking about having our oldest do a Chinese camp that is offered at one of the elementary schools but we aren’t sure yet.

They’re doing a one-week gymnastics camp in the mornings. If I get more work projects I’ll probably sign them up for day camp at the Y for childcare.

there is not too much for this age that is not glorified day care. There are some amazing programs but they are upwards of $300 a week per child. Next Summer they will be able to go to the Rec camps that are more affordable.

    Chinese camp sounds very cool!!

Morgan is signed up for a week-long arts camp (at a local center for the arts) in June that includes visual arts, theater, and dance. She’s very excited! She did have to decide between it and a sports camp that is on the same week where she would have done cheerleading.

There’s also a cooking camp in July that we’re considering, at the local university. It’s a little pricier, but she would really love it. They have several different week-long camps to choose from.

And there’s an art store that does kids camps at a very reasonable price, so she may do one or two of those, depending on when they are.

And the local sanitary district does a free week-long camp out at the reservoir that teaches kids about nature and conservation. Last year they did it too late for any kids attending county schools to be able to attend, but she went two years ago and loved it. I’m hoping they pay attention to all the schools’ calendars in the county, and not just the city schools’ this year.

Magster, those sound like some fun options!

I admit the gymnastics camp is glorified day care but it’s a nice break for all of us and was reasonably priced, so I’m OK with that. ;)
