In Nordic mythology, Thor is a sky god, the son of the chief god Odin. God of thunder, he is also called the "thunderer". Legend attributes the booming sound of thunder as the rattling of his charriot. He is the bearer of the belt of strength, and the owner of a magical hammer that always comes back to him when he throws it, like a boomerang would.
