Thomas has been very popular in the UK for several years, staying at second place in 2007. In the US it ranked 51st. St Thomas was one of the twelve disciples of Jesus. He is often known as 'doubting Thomas' as he requires proof of the resurrection of Jesus.

Thomas Becket is a 12th century saint. He was archbishop of Canterbury, and angered English King Henry II who called out some variant of 'who will rid me of this troublesome priest!'. Four of his knights took up the task and Thomas Becket was killed inside Canterbury Cathedral. This later became a popular pilgrimage site. St Thomas Aquinas is another saint, his work has had much influence on subsequent Christian theology.
