Additional info: |
In Greek mythology, Themis was the name of a Titan with authority over divine law and order - the traditional rules of conduct first established by the gods. She divided the year into 13 months, with two seasons separated by the summer and winter solstices. She was also a prophetic goddess who presided over the most ancient of the earthly oracles, including the shrine of Delphi. The name is derived from the Greek 'tithenai' (to dispose; to order). |
