It is rare even in Ireland itself, where it did not make the top 100 names in 2005 (in the US in 2006 it was ranked 842nd). The name most famously belongs to Seamus Heaney, a poet and writer from Northern Ireland who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1995.
