Nike was the ancient Greek goddess of victory. In Greek mythology the Titan Pallas married the river Styx, a union which bore Zelus (zeal), Cratus (strength), Bia (force) and Nike (victory). In the English-speaking world it is pronounced NY-kee and is famous for being a brand of sports clothing. In modern Greece the name is pronounced NEE-kee and is a common nickname for Andronike.
