  • Additional Info:
Narcisse is the French form of the Latin Narcissus, possibly derived from the Greek "narke" meaning "sleep". The name was borne in Greek mythology by a handsome youth who was loved by the nymph Echo. Narcissus did not return her love, however, and Echo pined away until only her voice remained. After her death, Narcissus was made to fall in love with his own reflection in a pool, and there he remained, mesmerized until he turned into a flower - the Narssisus, commonly known in English as Daffodil. Narcisse is also the French vocabulary word for Daffodil.
