From the Hebrew meaning "generous, noble". In the Old Testament, Nadav was the eldest son of Aaron. He was consumed by flames and killed when he offered unauthorized fire to God. Nadav of Israel was the son and successor of Jeroboam, the king of Israel. A third Nadav was a son of Shammai in the tribe of Judah.
