Katniss Everdeen is the main character of Suzanne Collins's The Hunger Games trilogy. Katniss is an edible aquatic plant belonging to the Sagittaria family and more commonly referred to as "duck potato" or "swan potato". Sagitarria means "of an arrow" and the plant species was likely named this due to the pointed shape of the leaves.
