Hadar is derived from the Hebrew meaning "beautiful, ornamented, or honored". The word is used to designate all citrus fruits (oranges, lemons, grapefruits, citrons), as well as any beautiful tree. In the Talmud, Hadar often refers specifically to citrons.
In the Old Testament, Hadar was King of Edom. He married Mehetabel and set up his capital in the city of Pai.
