Evita was the nickname of Eva Perón, the First Lady of Argentina from 1946 until 1952. The events surrounding the rise to power of her husband, Juan Perón, as President of Argentina and the significant role she played was turned into a movie ("Evita") featuring famous American singer Madonna and into a musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber (music) and Tim Rice (lyrics).
