In Euripides' ancient Greek play 'Helen' there is a character called Theonoe who is the daughter of King Proteus of Egypt. She is a seer who helps Menelaus and Helen escape from Egypt. As a child she was known by the name Eido ('beauty'). She received the name Theonoe on reaching the age of marriage.
