    From the Greek 'chrysos', 'golden'. In the "Iliad", Chryseis was the daughter of the priest Chryses and enslaved when the Greek ravaged the coast of her home country. Her father pleaded to have her back but at first Chryseis' master, Agamemnon, refused. When Apollo unleashed his plague on the Greeks, Agamemnon eventually had to give in and restored Chryseis to her father.
