The best-known Athaliah in the Bible was the daughter of King Ahab and Jezebel. She married King Jehoram of Judah. After her son died, she became queen and ruled for several years, killing her own grandsons in order to retain power. One escaped and became King, while Athaliah was dealt with by her former guards. She was the only queen to ever rule Judah.
Two men in the Bible were also named Athaliah: a son of Jeroboam in First Chronicles, and a son of Elam in the book of Ezra.
This name is also found and sometimes written alternatively as Athalia.
