Aphrodite was the Greek goddess of love and beauty. In mythology she was born fully grown, rising from the foam of the sea. She landed on the small island of Cythera, but moved onto Cyprus, whence her alternative name, 'Kypris'.
"Mighty Aphrodite" is a modern movie written and directed by Woody Allen and released in 1995. Mira Sorvino won an Academy Award for her role.
