    From the Greek nouns 'andros' (man) and 'mache' (battle). In Greek mythology Andromache was the daughter of Eetion, the wife of Hector of Troy and the mother of Astyanax. After the fall of Troy she was taken as spoils of war by Neoptolemus, brother of Achilles.

    Andromache (c. 425 BC) is a play by Euripides. It follows Andromache during her life as a slave, years after the events of the Trojan War.
