    In Roman mythology, Acestes was a king of the area of Segesta, and son of the river Crinisus. In the Aeneid, Acestes participates in a trial of skill in which he shoots his arrow with such force that it is inflamed.

    There is also a Saint Ascestes . He was one of the three soldiers who escorted Saint Paul the Apostle to his death. They were all converted by Paul, and were martyred with him in 65 AD by beheading in Rome, Italy. His feast is observed July 2nd.
