A name from Egyptian mythology. Aapep was a giant snake who was nothingness and who tried to catch souls of the dead on their journey to the afterlife. Those he caught would become non-existant.
Aapep has been written other ways in Roman script, including Apapi and its later Coptic form Aphôph.
