Is it very common for people to have a baby and still not have a name a week later? Where I live, you have to have the birth certificate filled out before you leave the hopital. This includes the name. When I had my son, they had to make me pick a name even though I still wasn't sure which one I wanted to use.
I was just wondering how often this occurs, since I've never heard of it.

We had 10 days to name Mahrin. We left w/no name, they had us fill out the birth certificate info and said we had 10 days to contact them w/the name part. We filled out the rest when we returned for the 1st well baby/jaundice check up.

Well, I don't know if it was the hospital or what, but this time if I don't have a name, I'm gonna wait. Thanks.

When I was a teenager a good friend of the family had a baby girl. Well, they called her baby girl for 3 months!!!! They finally decided on the name Lisa (Ick, imho) months after she was born..... I don't know about the legal laws around it....I just thought I would share my unusual experience

I think I also have 10 days but I think we will know soon after she is born what we want to call her ( her middle name will not be chosen until afetr birth). My friens whom had a baby 4 months ago named her son Leighton then when she went home changed her mind on the spelling and had to call back nad get them to spell it Leyton.

I dont see how anybody can not have a name for their baby when its born, or at least a week after birth. i know someone who didnt have a name AT ALL, no ideas, said the name would come to them when baby was born, a week later he was still nameless. Ended up being Jack (HOW POPULAR) because they couldnt think of a name

all I have done is think about baby names since I was 13 I am not sure why but I did. I am set for either a boy or a girl when they are born in July. Well I guess when I find out the sex in March.

I can understand not having a name.. I had a boys name picked out, Jackson (popular I know but I cant help it, i just love it)... and I was convinced it was a boy... Then the ultasound said it was a girl. And I had no clue. From the time I was 10 I had Cammie picked out for a girl (thanks to the movie the Great Outdoors).... But when I was pregnant.. it just didnt seem to fit. We were considering a ton of names, and changed our minds a million times. Finally on my last day in the hospital when she was 3 days old, we settle on Sadie... It is a really hard decision, one they will have to live with forever.. I just didnt want to pick a bad name. Now I am completly happy with her name...
