I'm 1/2 German and 1/2 Irish. I still have several relatives living in Germany and I've been lucky enough to visit once, but unfortunately I don't speak the language!

I claim to be American, because I am. Now "race" wise, I'm Mestizo. Mexican by mother and father and Mestizo.

I get confused for Hindi a few times but mostly Asian, as in Chinese like Asian with something else in there. Have no idea how as, one I live in Texas and two I speak Spanish by family. I do look slightly Asian according to people so it maybe possible I'm part Asian and don't know it and god knows what else.

My best friend's mom is from Germany and her dad is from Iran. When people find out about her mom, they sometimes think that they're related to Hitler etc., and when they find out about her dad, they usually think he's Arab. Neither is true Rolling Eyes

A friend of mine is half german, and a guy in my class is german. I´m dutch. Some ppl think crazy things about the dutch too apperantly. In the last few weeks there were some american shows where the dutch were mentioned. Amsterdam was translated as "drugsparadijs" (= drugsparadise), a girl from Holland didn't speak a word English (in Holland the major part of the population speaks at least a bit English). And everyone here would walk on wooden shoes, wich perhaps some farmers do, but in a city you never see that. It's actually quite annoying that people have all those stereotypes (like the german-> nazi's, the dutch-> milkmaids and drugaddicts, american-> ppl who get fat eating nothing but junkfood, and healthfreaks, etc). I guess it's because people don't know engough about other countries and their cultures.

I know about 15 words in German, because I took German in elementary school. Du habst Donnerwetter?

Na ja, das ist falsch. Du hast. Donnerwetter, besser ist ein Gewitter. Du habst Donnerwetter- das geht nicht, aber du hast ein gutes Gedächtnis Very Happy . I wasn't born in Germany, but I live here though. I do feel bad though that people always ask Germans about the Nazis and Hitler and all that. And hey, the German language isn't that harsh, it's just that the words sound strong, but it's actually a nice language. English is my first language though.

I'm German because of my birth mother and father. I am proud that I'm German because where I live there are barely any caucaisan (sp?) people and most other people are 'ghetto'. I've been called a Nazi MANY times. And when people are mad at me they will say to my face that I am a Nazi. I hate it. It's not even close to true. My grandfather fought on the American side in WWII. I'm not too sure about my other grandfather because he was Polish and still lived there during that time.

I'm 50% German and 50% Polish. I'm not a nazi and I'm not an idiot. I've been to Germany and to Poland. Loved both countries. I especially love Munich and Rothenburg ob der Tauber in Germany and Krakow in Poland.
