OMG, I have the weirdest craving. I always want to chew gum. I mean, I constantly have to chew gum. Well, the fact that I quit smoking would make me want to chew gum more. But I don't know if chewing too much gum would hurt bc they are sugar free which mean I don't know if it's made with artificial sweetener. And what in the world is Xylitol??? Trident gum are all with Xylitol. Is THAT healthy for baby if I chew gum all day??? I know this is weird and stupid question but I was just concern....Thanks!

ohmigosh, i've been wondering the same thing! I chew a lot of gum, but my problem is that I always swallow it subconsciously! I swallow like 2 or 3 sticks of gum a day! I don't mean to though...it's like i'll be chewing gum then next thing I know it's down to a really tiny piece, then it's gone!!! Can that be bad for the baby? I guess I should have asked my doctor yesterday. I also chew suger free gum...Extra.

IMO, gum is all chemical so how can it be good for you? But if you're going to chew it, here's an article on chemical sweeteners. They say splenda is safe but with further research, I disagree.

So which means that I should stop chewing gum? But this is the only way I can quit smoking since I have something to do like blow bubbles and stuff.....

I agree. I think it is much better that you chew gum then smoke and i'm sure any Dr. would agree. Chewing gum cannot possibly be that bad since I was never told not to do it.

But does all the chewing gum contains aspartame? Maybe you could find a brand which doesn't have it.

Not all brands have it... just make sure the gum is not sugar free. Most gum made for kids (like some bubble-yum types) have sugar, not the substitute.

Thanks ladies. I think I do rather chew gum that smoke. I am doing very well ever sine I started chewing!!! I will start getting the regular kids kind like bubblicious and Bazooka Joe instead of the sugar free kind.

I realized extra sugar free gum had aspartame I was so sad, I used to chew that stuff like crazy, but those artificial sweetners are very bad for you and baby. Like said above it's just a bunch of chemicals.
