What do you all think of the names Evadne and Ariadne? Both are Greek, and I don't hear them often at all. Thanks for your opinions!

How do you pronounce them? Ariadne reminds me of Rodney (if I am saying it correctly) which reminds me of My Big Fat Greek Wedding when the lady goes, "Rodney, Harry!"

I love them both! They're on my favorites list. I think they're elegant, classic, and unique.

Ariande reminds me of Arachnid/Arachne. Arachne is actually a name though. It is a greek mythology character that turned into a spider- nasty!

They are both hard to prn, hard to remember how to spell. I do not like them at all.

I grew up with a girl named Evadne (ee-VAD-nee). I was too young to ever ask her what she thought of her name, but no one mispronounced it. She's the only Evadne I have ever met and she was so sweet and gorgeous.

I think it is a beautiful name. Ariadne also reminds me of spiders. YUCK!

LOVE LOVE LOVE Ariadne, its been on my favs list for a while now

Disagree with pronounciation listed by a pp though - "ah ree ODD nee."

Most people will pronounce it a-ree-add-nee and correctly it is closest to Uh-ree-ard-nee or Uh-ree-udd-nee.

I like both, but prefer Evadne, which I find more mellifluous. I think it's less likely to be misprounced than Ariadne.

I LOVE Ariadne!

Evadne is nice too, but it makes me think of the word "evade".

Trivia tidbit: One of the nuns in "The Sound of Music" was played by an actress named Evadne Baker.
