Lately I have been drawn more towards unique and spirited names, such as River and Willow. I like how earthy they are and the spirit behind them.Are these names exceptable with children these days or should I worry about teasing? What do you all think, Yay or Nay? All suggestions are welcome.

I think these names are ok, but I think it's best for the children if they then have "normal" mn's. Otherwise it gets kinda weird.
I like the sound of Willow better then River. Autumn is another name of this style that I like.

i see River more as a boys' name.. i like Willow too.... for boys' i also like names like Hunter, Tanner, Parker etc....
i don't really love flower names on kids.. daisy, lily, etc.. except i do think poppy is cute but just as a nn.... and piper is really cute...

Willow is lovely name that I like quite a bit. I also think River is great, but only for a boy. It seems more mascuilne sounding to me, with the hard 'r' sound.
These are some combos I like for Willow.
Willow Ann
Willow Nicole
Willow Marissa
Willow Elizabeth
Willow Marie
I know the middle names are pretty common ones, but I think that with a first name like Willow, you something a little more mundane to balance it out. Personally, I think Willow Nicole sounds the best.

Only like River for a boy. Willow can be girl though. I would only consider them if you had a more common middle name to fall back on.

Thanks for the responses! I appreciate the suggestions and I am surprised and delighted that so many are positive. I guess in todays day and age, unique names are more exceptable than they have been in the past. Just look at all of the names celebs name their kids! Anyways, I am happy to read your opinions and suggestions, so keep them coming!!!

LOVE BOTH!!! I really love nature names! I think River is better for a boy though, but still nice for a girl!
