|
|
Ok my dog is going to unload her puppies on me any day now! We were keeping her in a pen during the day so that she could be outside but not get into any trouble. We had every intention of getting her spayed but some unforseen bills came up so we had to put it off. On her first heat she managed to break out of her pen while I was gone to class (I got back at 9am) and was gone all day. I drove around looking for her for at least an hour but had to go to my other classes. Finally around 4pm I got a phone call from someone on campus who had found her. Well her one day adventure has left her knocked up (yaye for me ) Anyways, I need names for her puppies. I know that other people will end up with them and more than likely change their names but I'll have the little guys for at least 6 weeks so I've decided to go ahead and give them names. Of course I have no idea what they will look like but more than likely black and white because that's what she looks like and I think that tends to be pretty dominant. I would like to use "people" names, it's kind of a tradition around my house. I'm using names that I like (mostly GPs) but would never use. So far for the boys I have come up with Oliver, Henry, and Oscar. For girls, all I have is Matilda. These names make me think of both little old men & ladies but an adorable little kid (possibly with huge black frame glasses ) So please suggest anything that brings these images to mind for you! Thanks

When I was younger, my dogs were named:
Theo
Barney
Jett
Harry
George
(we ALWAYS had male dogs, so I've no idea what to name a girl one!)

We had puppies eleven months back and named them Jenna, Ryan, Cait, Bree and Sally. It is best to keep the names as short as possible. That way they will learn their names sooner and probably will listen much better. We sold four of the pups and three of the owners actually decided on going on with the names we gave the pups because they liked them. The owner of Sally decided to name her Blaze though.
I like the suggestion of Dan. Others: Kate, Mira, Wolf, Tori, Sam, Vera, Mila, Simon, Iris, Nico.

I find it's best to name puppies after they come out and you see their personalities. My dog had puppies, and we called them Theodore and Mr. Bear until we saw their personalities, and found them to be Teddy and Fuzz-ums. Speaking of which, anybody want a red long-hair mini-dachshund puppy? I could send you a pic.

You really should keep the puppies for 7 weeks, at the very least - preferably 8 weeks. There's lots of socialization and skills that they learn from the mother and from each other.
Names... hmm... Sorry if I've repeated any!
Charlie
Theo (I know someone suggested this, but it's cute!)
Jack
Caleb
Francis
Franklin
Edward/Edmund
Lila
Lyra
Aria
Melody
Grace
Celeste
Seline
Cera
Poppy
I hope we get to see photos

Ha I will trade you all of mine for yours!
I will probably post pictures once they are born...I think tonight might be the night or maybe in the morning she is really starting to fill out under there. I am really excited but this was the last thing I needed! Does anyone know of a good way to partner up with an adoption program? I can't sell them cause they are who-knows-what mutts but I don't want to just give them away to anyone I want to make sure it will be someone who really cares for them and gives them the best home possible.
